One of the Save Journeyman sites re****ted yesterday that Kevin Falls has
signed a development deal with another company, presumably one of the
major studios but I can't find anything online as to which one.
What I found most curious was the site took this news as definitively
ruling out any possibility of Journeyman continuing. That's bizarre
logic, because NBC didn't pick it up and the producers, Fox, had
terminated Kevin Falls' deal under the force majeur clause during the
strike. That was back in January.
So if anything, the doom and gloom on these sites should have been
back in January, not now. At least now, if Falls has found a new home,
there's the possibility that his new studio might buy out Fox's interest
in
Journeyman the way Universal bought out Fox's Firefly and did the
Serenity movie. Maybe Falls has told these sites that he or his new
studio have no interest, but that's not the rationale the site is giving.
What did they think? That Falls could finance production of more
Journeyman in some form himself? Unless they have more information,
there's no way that Falls getting a new deal -- that fact alone -- can
be bad news for Journeyman. Yet they're treating it that way.
