As a season opener, for a season explicitly intended to finish the
story, the episode seemed to do a fine job of setting out a diverse
menu of themes and storylines, some old and some new, that will lead
to the finale 19 episodes down the line.

-What is a Cylon? (This may turn out to be the real question, rather
than "who is a Cylon"?)

-What is Starbuck's destiny, and how was it set out for her?

-What reality, if any, lies behind the pervasive religiosoty of the
colonists?

-What is the relation****p between these people (human and Cylon) and
the Earth we know?

The episode managed to set the table for the future while still
telling a nich chunk of story itself.
