Starbuck's going to give the loaded gun to Roslin to make the argument
that although Starbuck could have killed the President, or Admiral
Adama for that matter, she did not, thus Starbuck cannot be a Cylon.

No, the incredible real brilliance of the episode is the "healing" of
the child.  Because in that "healing" Ron Moore gave away the whole
point he's been trying to make about the show and religion, and no one
noticed.

Because the only one to whom the healing of the child really mattered
was to the atheist, Baltar.  The death of the child would not have
shattered the mother's faith--she was ****trayed as willing to accept
it as divine will, nor apparently to the other believers.  Only the
atheist needed some reassurance that the universe was not completely
capricious, cruel, and having no meaning.

A "miracle" occurred, but it was a miracle only in the collective
interpretation of those who experienced it.

Note the parallel between the time in first season when Inner Six made
Baltar pray when he feared that Roslin would not order the destruction
of the passenger ****p and the "miracle" in the most recent episode.
Yet I have read no one arguing in this newsgroup that an actual
miracle did occur or that having it be a miracle is vital to the
interpretation of the show.

Unless one believes that the child is the Final Cylon, the "miracle"
is precisely not im****tant to anything about the series other than to
the reaction of those who experienced it, probably Baltar most of all.

That is why I believe in the end the so-called Final Cylon will be the
collective consciousness, perhaps even of past and future, of all
humans and Cylons.
