They've actually shown it taking people on at least three previous
occasions that I can think of right off the top of my head - the Roman
legionnaire, the aviatrix and her 50s-era friends, and Spike.  And
that's if you don't count WWI-guy as another example.

You would think that neither Gwen nor To****ko would find this
particularly surprising.

The continuity on this show is ****, as is the writing.
