By DIANE GARRETT
Crown Publishers has ponied up $3 million for a book trilogy by
"Heroes" creator Tim Kring.
Novelist Dale Peck will co-write "The Flag of Orpheus," an alternate
history thriller about the abuses of power and moral obligation to
resist it, with the TV scribe, a newcomer to the book realm. Endeavor
lit topper Richard Abate brokered the deal for Kring, who's repped by
the tenpercentery for his smallscreen activities.
First tome, dubbed "****ft," is skedded for a fall 2009 by the Random
House imprint. Trilogy revolves around key turning points in late 20th
century, including early 1960s drug culture.
Each installment will be launched with an alternate reality game as
part of the online marketing push.
Besides "Heroes," Kring created "Crossing Jordan" and wrote for skeins
such as "Chicago Hope" and "Providence."
