  Season 2.5 is the second half of the second season episodes. Seasons 2 
& 3 of BSG are 20 episodes each. They split the DVD 2nd season set in 
half to make more money, although they probably justified it by the big 
gap in the original airing of first & second half of season 2 on Sci-Fi. 
  But there must have been some backlash against splitting season 2 into 
2 sets, because season 3 is one set.

  So yes, going from the 2.0 DVD set to season 3 set will lead to a BIG 
jump in the plot.
