July Debut For Next ‘Stargate’ DVD
‘Stargate: Continuum’ Timed For Comic-Con
By Kent Gibbons
The next chapter in the Stargate SG-1 team's career after television
cancellation—the Stargate: Continuum DVD—will be released on July 29,
and will include the original series star Richard Dean Anderson, MGM
Home Entertainment said.
The first DVD after Sci Fi Channel canceled the show following a
10-year run on cable, Stargate: Ark of Truth, came out in March and
continued the storylines of the show's last season.
Continuum is more of a stand-alone movie: the Stargate team of
interstellar travelers is faced with a situation where they must find
the missing ****tal device that named the series and right a situation
that sees Earth imperiled by the team's original enemy, the Goa'uld.
Cast members will appear at a key Stargate marketing venue, Comic-Con
2008 in San Diego, and the DVD will be the first Stargate adventure
released in a high-definition format (Blu-Ray).
Cast members in addition to Anderson include Ben Browder, Amanda
Tapping, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black, Beau Bridges and Michael
Shanks. It's list priced in the U.S. at $26.98, or $39.98 for the
Blu-Ray version.
****tions were filmed near the Arctic Circle and action sequences
include Air Force F-15s and a nuclear submarine.
As Browder—who played Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell on the series' last
two seasons—told Multichannel News in March 2007, just prior to
filming Continuum: “By Friday, I'll be out on the ice. Somewhere in
the Arctic. Waiting on nuclear submarines. And bears”
