I understand your feelings on this and to a non-trivial extent, 
share some.  I loved the characters, failings and all (Kara's 
self-destructiveness, Lee's moodiness and righteousness and what 
can one say about Tigh?).  But by the mid of season 3, they had 
trashed all to the point where they were indeed getting very 
tiresome.  I didn't care one whit that Kara was in peril after her 
Raptor was shot down, and not much more when disappearing into the 
Maelstrom. I must admit I did enjoy the season much more on DVD.

The series isn't as consistently great as it was in the Mini, S1, 
and S2 (well, the first 12 episodes), but it still is better than 
95% of what is out there and has occasionally shown flashes of its 
old brilliance (S3's first four).  I'm hoping for a big final season 
now that they know it is a done deal.  And so far, I'd say S4 is 
showing that potential.

Back to your Q: I think this show has *great* characters (superbly 
played and directed).  But no, they haven't been very likeable for 
quite a while.
