So what emotions do you feel when you watch drama then?
Since the characterization of Mackey is the main aspect of the story, I
don't know how you could enjoy it without feeling something for the
character.   Some characters in drama are so good you love to hate them
but
even then you need other white hats for them to play off of.   Making all
the characters bad (or assholes in the case of BG) makes the drama tedious
to me.

You snipped my original quote anyway.  I coupled "rooting" with liking the
characters.  If Mackey were totally a bad guy, the ****eld wouldn't be any
good at all in my opinion.  It would be more like the movie Training Day
without the Ethan Hawke character to play off of.   Instead they've gone
back and forth giving him redeemable characteristics.   The most
interesting
question left in The ****eld is whether the writers will have Mackey pay
for
what he's done.
