BSG "Saul Tigh" ... smiling, glad-handing politician?!!?!

I finally got around to watching a recording of the pilot ep of MONK and
was 
stunned at seeing the smiling, happy, glad-handing, cheerful, upbeat, 
people-person politician played by BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's Paul Hogan. It
was 
such a complete 180 from the character he plays on BSG that it blew my
mind.

And impressed me how well he's acting on the show. I mean after hearing
and 
seeing some of the behind-the-scenes footage of some of the actors (e.g., 
Grace Park, Kandy McClure, Tamot uh something, et al.) I knew they weren't

as serious as their character, but for some reason this caught me totally 
offguard.
