Well the proof of the pudding is too look around - humans could change 
things but it doesn't happen beause most don't care that much when you 
get right down to it.

I was just pointing out a fault in the reasoning. I would be curious to 
meet (friendly) alien species, but since I doubt that is likely to 
happen in my lifetime I don't really care. Though intellectually i can 
see the use for future generations.
