They are changing the timeline, you just don't get to see how the changes 
effect the future because the people sent from the future are 'immune' to 
the changes.  Maybe the show will introduce some more recent time
travellers 
that will reveal a different future than the one Cameron, for example,
knows 
about...but really, what difference does it make?  The second the new 
traveller goes back in time, that traveller's data about what the future 
*is* like is also obsolete.



I'm still wondering why people are claiming this storyline can't have 
longevity when it has been going for several decades already.
