Wait. Do you mean Star Trek Voyager or Star Trek Enterprise?

Star Trek Enterprise dealt with time travel a lot and I think they did
a good job, considering. They were restricted in that no changes
could occur that would contradict the timeline established in previous
Star Trek series. Smallville has a simular opportunity here: they can
plausibly (but not sensibly) make changes to established Smallville
continuity to bring it more in line with the continuity established in
current comics and movies (to the extent that they agree). As long as
Clark remembers how things were then the series was meaningful.

Wouldn't it be cool if to save Lana it meant changing things so that
Lana never found out his secret? He'd be even less anxious to give
out his secret knowing what eventually happened to her. Of course, if
Lana had never learned his secret then she would have married Lex and
been cloned and gone through a fake pregnancy and Lex would still have
found out about Veritas and killed his father but Lana would probably
have stayed in Shanghai rather than come back to live on the farm with
Clark. She would have been safe because Brainiac wouldn't have known
where she was and wouldn't have been able to use her as a pawn against
Clark. I'd have a lot of respect for Clark if he made a decision
based on what was best for Lana rather than himself. Oh and Bizarro
would probably still be out there too.

Of course, the whole time-travel-reset thing was used the first time
Lana died and it ended up being Johnathon who died in her place. If
Clark changes everything to save Lana then something horrible will
happen to someone else he cares about. Probably Chloe. It reminds me
of the movie The Butterfly Effect: unless changing the past results in
something bad happening to somebody else then Clark will forever have
his finger on the reset button.
