It was a somewhat flippant comment, but Ken has the idea.  Ben has been 
trying to get various people to do things by giving them false
impressions. 
I.E., trying in a deliberate and controlled manner to be "misunderstood". 
He doesn't want anyone to understand what he's actually doing, hence he 
wants to be misunderstood.
