It showed a lot more, starting with the fact that the island "let" Jack 
get sick in the first place, which immediately leads to the question of 
*why* would the island do that?  Is Jack no longer worth protecting?  Is 
the island trying to keep everyone from leaving?  Or is it something else?

This really surprised me, as I thought they'd all be reddish-pink paste 
by now.
