Claire got sick.  Was it because the island didn't like her or because
Juliet and friends did something nasty involving an "implant" to make
her sick so Juliet could look like a hero by saving her?  The obvious
guess (even if it's wrong) is that Juliet is running the same scam on
Jack.  If would explain why she wanted Kate out of the tent and Jack
unconscious--only one set of eyes to fool.  Of course, it's the obvious
guess only if you know what Juliet did before.  Last we heard she had
lied to Jack, saying that Claire's condition was a side effect of the
(bogus?) pregnancy treatment.  Given that nobody ever asks questions
Jack probably never followed up on this and even if he did he likely
wouldn't have told Rose.

And on the subject of asking questions, we now have both Faraday and
Miles disavowing the mission and/or claiming that they didn't sign up
for "this."  Somebody really needs to ask them what they _did_ sign up
for.
