But that's butchering for content, not size. :-)

Glad you like it (so far). The production design was a deliberate
hommage to BLADE RUNNER. There's a blatant reference to BLADE
RUNNER a few episodes from the end.

Yes, Beta is "us". Alpha is supposed to be about 50 years ahead
of Beta, technology-wise. Gamma is...well, not so much behind us,
but it's what we'd be if our technology had gone green early
enough. None of this is really mentioned in the show, but only
extra-textually.
