Why all the spam all of a sudden?

I didn't even know that it was worthwhile to spam-advertize on such a NG 
as this..?

Sorry for my ignorance regarding usenet, but where's the server machine 
for this NG?  Since I imagine the answer is "there can be several 
servers duplicating each others' contents", can an admin/moderator/user 
delete such spam from "the NG"?
