Cyndane disguise?

by Matthew Kuhl <patton1945@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 9, 2008 at 10:31 PM

I think I may have a possibility for Cyndane's disguise among the
Randlanders. Recall, if you will, from KoD, in the scene when Elayne
has defeated the rebels and their leaders are standing before her.
Remember Sylvase Caeren? The granddaughter of Nasin Caeren, the old,
probably senile High Seat of House Caeren? There is something rather
suspicious about her. For instance, the fact that her grandfather
practically dotes on her. It would be quite easy to point his mind in
that direction with Compulsion. And one need not even be a Graendal
at Compulsion to handle something like this. Or there is her firm
certainty that her cousins will practically fall over themselves
confirming her as High Seat. Additionally, there is the fact that she
has coopted Arymilla's shadowy Taraboner "secretary"/torturer for her
own uses. Finally, Elayne herself admits that she doesn't actually
know squat about Sylvase Caeren. Sylvase and Cyndane fit the same
physical profile (so far as I remember): short, ice-blond, blue-eyes.
It's been noted before that FS frequently "borrow" identities of real-
world people who are little known and turn them into their own
disguises (a la Mesaana). Last piece of evidence I can think of: The
only POV we have from Cyndane is obviously when she's in
"negotiations" with a high-ranking DF somewhere (obviously skeptical
of Cyndane's Chosen-ness), right before Moridin's "call to arms." The
only place of significance in Randland that (so far as we know) has no
Forsaken operating in is...Andor, after Rahvin's death. Mesaana in
the White Tower, Semirhage with the Seanchan, Aran'gar (formerly with
Egwene's Rebs)...most places appear to be occupied already. Except
for Andor. With its strategic location, historic unity, and future
Queen who is very im****tant to the Dragon Reborn, it's only logical
for Moridin to dispatch Cyndane, one of the Mindtrapped Duo, whom he
directly controls, to Andor.
