Add to it he got too comfortable.  He had money and had no compelling
reason to write efficiently anymore.  So you got book after book with
non-relevant side plots and lot of girls being stupid and pulling
their braids for page after page after page. 


A victim of his own success and the story that could have been his
legacy died with him..
