Jim Butcher's series is fantastic, even if not primarily about
vampires.  I enjoyed the first Weather Warden book but lost interest
with the second one, and figure that they're worth about one quick
read but not much more.

Barbara Hambly has a pair of very good vampire stories: Those Who Hunt
The Night and Traveling with the Dead are the titles.

George R. R. Martin has Fevre Dream, which I finally read about a year
ago and enjoyed very much.

A non-typical vampire story might be Tim Powers, The Stress of Her
Regard.

And, of course, I adore Robin McKinley's Sun****ne with a great and
abiding passion.

Siena
