I was asking how to relate the most plausible FTL drives, for 
those who believe they are plausible, to the Fermi "paradox", 
People keep dragging in loony-tune Star Trek stuff, which I 
am assuming no one actually thinks is plausible. What 
difference does it make that when Captain Kirk is standing on 
the Enterprise, he's in normal space and time, but just going 
much faster than light? How could that possibly matter to the 
question of why we have no aliens hanging around? It's like 
asking if the subprime lending crisis could be addressed 
using the help of Gringotts Bank.

Of course, it could be no one here believes FTL is plausible, 
but I had another impression.
