A former church worker in Laveen has been found guilty of multiple ***
crimes that will land him a prison sentence of more than 500 years,
prosecutors said Thursday.
They said James Downs, 34, and the victims, three minor male children,
attended New Destiny Christian Church, 7828 S. 27th Ave., when the
crimes occurred from June 2001 to September 2006.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said Downs committed horrible
crimes, grossly violating a trust that was placed in him by the
Southwest Valley congregation, where he had served as a youth
volunteer.
