Just spotted this on the Onion AV Club newswire: the Coen
Brothers are signed to make a movie adaptation of Michael Chabon's
_The Yiddish Policeman's Union_:

I'm biased to think that it's better-suited to be a radio
adaptation, but that's probably because I 'read' the book by audio CD
while commuting and its tone fit so very naturally to old-time radio
detective dramas (which was, of course, not coincidence). And the
United States hasn't managed old-time-radio style programs since that
abortive attempt to make new X Minus One episodes in the early 70s.
