- galaxy & asf step-by-step raised the going word-rate
to the sort of level you imply, but that was for first
publication rights, not for subsequent anthologisation.
- i've no idea what the top going rates for reprinting
stories in the established annual "best ofs" may now be,
but they would be the equivalent comparison - and there
could be quite a wide range going down to "best ofs" by
rather smaller publishers with lower likely sales.
- so yes, it's not a princely rate being offered, but
nor is it represented to be the major part of the earn-
ings, nor the main financial reason for writing a story.
