Haven't done one of these posts in ages (I used to do them weekly or so,
the
_last_ time around I was regularly posting here). So. Last week I didn't
get
anything at Waldenbooks, because nothing new had come in that I wanted - I
did
put in an order though. This week made up for it:
Hardback -
Iain M. Banks, Matter. Mine, mine, all miiiine!
Michelle West (qv. Sagara) - The Hidden City. ...I hate you, Ms West. Hate
hate
hate. Because now there's another author I have to buy in hardbacks.
GRRR.
Trade paperback -
Matthew Hughes, Majestrum (my special order). I did find once I got home
last
week that I already had Black Brillion [Waldenbooks has no Internet
access of
any kind that I could use to look at my online list], so it's just as
well I
didn't order it too.
Paperback -
Ann Aguirre, Grimspace. Someone said something earlier on the group about
a
book where jumpspace used up jump pilots, and I'm afraid that might be
this
one, but it looks interesting anyway. Jumps to next on the to-read list
simply because its author starts with A - this is a current-situation
decision, not a book-quality-related one.
Anton Strout, Dead To Me. New author (for me). Looks interesting.
Raymond E. Feist, Into a Dark Realm. I'm behind on reading the continuing
stoooooory of the Riftwar world, and now notice that I'm missing the
paperback
before this. Goes onto the F stack with the others in the series I
haven't
read yet. [*]
Adam-Troy Castro, Emissaries From the DeAd. Na-Li.
Sarah A. Hoyt, Heart of Light. Not quite a new author, I have one other of
hers; looks interesting.
Mercedes Lackey & Roberta Gellis, By Slanderous Tongues. Third in a
series, I
liked the previous ones. [*]
Moira J. Moore, Heroes Adrift. See previous entry.
Dave Duncan, The Alchemist's Apprentice. New series by him; I've liked
everything I've ever read by him, though I haven't read everything he's
wrote.
[*]
Carol Berg, Flesh and Spirit. She's an author who I have several of a
series by
that I've never gotten to yet at all, though from the cover blurbs it
looks
like I'm not making a serious mistake by continuing to collect them - I
only
have so much time-to-read. (Most recent author of this sort whose entire
series I devoured at once was Asaro; no real regrets there.) Goes onto
the B
stack.
Kathleen Bryan, The Serpent and the Rose. Na-Li. [*]
Looked up info on to see when they'd get to the store: Greywalker by
Richardson
(still only available in trade paperback); Mother of Lies by Duncan
(paperback
next month.)
[*] These I saw in hardback and noted down that I wanted to get them once
they
showed up in paperback. My notebook for that purpose has a scary amount
of
books in it, an only slightly less scary amount of which are crossed off.
