In the mythology of the tradition, not in The Real World - sorry if I
wrote
that confusingly. The most widely-known one would be Tolkien's, but there
are others out there, such as Moorcock's and the standard D&D background
(which is cribbed from a whole slew of fantasy). 'Elder races' are not
uncommon - though few take it as far, or have as many still wandering
around,
as Erikson does. Aren't Brust's Dragaera supposed to predate the arrival
of
"Easterners" (who to us would be the humans, though the Dragaerans call
themselves human) as well?
