Gamma ray bursts in SF

by Moriarty <blues95@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 3, 2008 at 06:25 PM

A slow news day here in Australia has the announcement that Earth may
lie directly in line with the axis of Wolf-Rayet 104, a spiral system
consisting of two stars orbiting each other, one of which is a Wolf-
Rayet star. An upshot of this (possibly) unfortunate placement is
that if WR104 ever goes Hypernova then we'll be fried by the resulting
Gamma Ray burst.

My first encounter with gamma ray bursts was reading Greg Egan's
_Dias****a_. What other SF works have Earth, or other inhabited
planet, hit with a GRB?
