Scenes from the 21st Century, number...

by Robert Carnegie <rja.carnegie@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 14, 2008 at 04:53 AM

BBC website headline:
"Endeavour crew take first space walk to start work on assembling
giant robot."

A hundred years ago, that would have appeared in a series of cigarette
cards about "The Twenty-First Century". Fifty or sixty years ago, a
pulp magazine cover artist would have gone to town on it.

More about the giant robot ("Dextre"):

Imagine working inside the ISS while someone down on Earth is
controlling the giant robot clambering around the outside like an
oversized mechanical spider... with way fewer limbs.

Imagine trying to /sleep/.
