Fairly recently, I discovered LibraryThing.com online and it inspired
me to finally start cataloging my books because you only need to put
down the ISPN number, or scan it, and it fills in all the other
information itself. It's a little more difficult with pre-ISPN books--
about half my library--but even there a title search brings up all the
publications and you choose yours. I only have 1100 some titles in so
far, and none of my non-speculative fiction books--have a couple more
shelves of sf to add down here, plus the boxes in the attic--aye,
there's the rub! But you can download lists categorized in different
ways to paper or Palm, to help avoid duplicates. And all you need is
internet access. If you have a paper list of the books stored, you
could at least enter that, guessing at editions, to avoid duplicates,
and add the new stuff you have out.
To see my collection, go to www.librarything.com and run a search for
my library (ronincats)--if you do, choose the cover version at 100
books per page. Simply awesome!

Rhonda
