I submit that the regions you speak of are not, in fact, in our
country, or even our plane of existence. They are, rather, on the
other side of naturally occuring interdimensional wormholes, where
the laws of physics are different, and people are stupider.

Hatred of Bush is very popular these days. And while the people of
the alternate dimension are far stupider than here, that doesn't
mean people are smart here.
