It makes sense to me.  When genre magazines were more prevalent on shop
shelfs, having a recognized name on the cover probably caused more
people to stop and buy it.  Now that they are mainly subscription, the
overall quality of the stories is more im****tant.  People are going to
base their decision on renewing on the perceived value in general, not
just one to two stories.
