	Clarke is more humane than Stapledon and somewhat less likely 
to take a dispassionate cosmic perspective. When humans go extinct
(or aliens do) in Clarke there is usually an air of regret about the
loss (Except when it's Martians). 

	(But I've only read THE STAR MAKER, ODD JOHN, SIRIUS and 
LAST AND FIRST MEN)
