Or an elite military force, or a reclusive secret society?

*Everyone* in the SciFi version of "Dune" wore a silly hat.  I suspect
the producers got scared that the plot was too complex for their usual
audience to follow, and decided on a Universal Hat Code to make it
immediately obvious which faction each character belonged to.

Bah.

Agreed, with a double Bah!  If the Sci-Fi channel had hired Lynch's
cinematographers, costumers, and set designers, we'd have had the
story done well and truly right.

Hmm, can we have the Lynch version running in the background with
the sound off for a day or so, to set the visuals firmly in mind,
then listen to the SciFi version as a radio play?
