And makes no mention of not doing so in lowering them. It's an 
obvious flaw in the joke. It would be more plausible if some 
mention were made of why it's different going down.

It does not say all are coming back down in one load. You presume, 
in defense of pretending an obvious joke is a real story.

The UL goes back over 100 years. Snopes cites an 1895 newspaper 
story as the earliest confirmed sighting in the wild.
