The matter-of-fact tone conveying the bizarre and grotesque sentiment.
The fact that a viewpoint character could think those thoughts and it
wasn't George R.R. Martin. Lots of authors have people do those things
but relatively few that I read have someone think them "on stage."

Also the fact that it was _somone_ I have read a great deal of but
haven't read in a long time, possibly years. And it was a guess. When
I re-read my post I thought that it _looked_ like I was making some
kind of analytical judgment. But mostly it was a guess. Since it
turned out to be right, I won't tell you the names of the two other
guys I thought about guessing.

I don't _think_ I want to read it.
