Challenge for Distopian Books about the world Ending

There was a column in the Financial Times today where the writer
speculates about end of the world scenarios, the column is here

I haven't directly cut and pasted the text here, because I amn't sure
of the copyright issue, if some one who knows the law better than I
wants to in a later post.....

Anyway he speculates about end of the world scenarios, some of which,
such as Meteor/Asteroid impact and alien Invasion that we could all
name numerous books about.

My gut feeling is that every one of these scenarios has been covered
in a SF book. Anyone care to try?
