We should also note that our intrepid dumbass is holding the rope 
with one hand (since the other hand must, necessarily, be involved 
in unhooking the rope) as it yanks him with enough force to lift 
him off the ground, unexpectedly.

I'll buy a steak dinner for anyone who can do that, and a) not let 
go of the rope, and b) not suffer serious injury to their shoulder 
as they do.

The entire story is simply not plausible.
