Oh, the joys of having elderly parents with dementia.  About a week after 
my mother died, my father called the police one morning to say that he 
had a burglar in the house.  When the police arrived, he told them that 
the burglar had turned out to be a nice young lady, and was having 
breakfast with him.  He led the police to the kitchen, where there were 
indeed two places laid at the table.  He then proceeded to introduce the 
police to the non-existent burglar, whom only he could see.  About a week 
after that, he had the first of a series of strokes, and spent the 
remainder of his life (about six months) in a series of hospitals and 
nursing homes.
