This does not seem to be a sequiter.  Whether one likes or dislikes
McKillip's writing, if one is familiar with her work, one wouldn't come up
with horsies or dragons.  Horses, in virtually all McKillip fantasies I
can
think of, have very minor roles and only as trans****tation.  Dragons
appear
in a couple of her books, but not as the major players (the dragon in the
Forgotten Beasts of Eld probably ranks no higher than 4th among the beasts
in im****tance to the story).  Are you possibly confusing McKillip with
McCaffrey (dragons) or Lackey (horsies)?
