I highly recommend both the first King Kong movie and the most
recent. The first is simply an excellent science fiction movie of its
time (though, to be fair, you do need to be able to approach 1930s
special effects on their own terms to appreciate it); the most recent
was very good, and could have been excellent with about a half hour
more editing (i.e. shortening of sequences that just sort of went on
forever like running from dinosaurs).
