I am the expert here on this subject, so listen up, O ye churlish herd
of nattering nebbishes and neophyte nerds . . .
There is nothing 'ambiguous' about it, and the meaning could not be
more plain. At the 17th verse he identifies himself as the fulfillment
of the law saying, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or
the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." He begins here
by repeating the charge of the Pharisees that he is a 'destroyer' of
the law, as they have been witness to the allegedly unlawful things he
does among them; gleaning in the corners of the fields, and healing on
the Sabbath.
But the Son of Man knows better than they what the law is, as given to
Moses and the Prophets previous to this time of textual and doctrinal
corruption from the erring hand of priests and scribes, and so Jesus
is able to say to them, in the less corrupt version, the Gospel of
Mark, "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." The
corruption of the other gospels is that they leave this passage out;
the one passage, the very passage which gives meaning, all the pur****t
to what Jesus says and does in this place.
In one terse statement of 12 (English) words he was able to glean from
the huge glut of sabbath law (which came not from God but from over-
zealous, hyper-pious priests) the whole purpose of God, in law, for
the sabbath.
O thou silly nincompoops and ninnies, it was not set aside to the
purpose of some pompous show of piety of up-suck to God--for
hypocrites. No, but much rather! It was a gift of God to man provided
strictly to prevent any greedy, evil man from depriving another of his
day of rest. The son of man was the first union organizer, don't you
see; God's own Hebrew Jimmy Hoffa--and don't you forget it!

you just sit down, fold your hands and be quiet while I settle this
matter for once and for all . . .
When the son of Man says that he is the fulfilment of the law, he
means that the law in lieu of that fulfillment is *not* the law of God
but of erring man; that there is no law meet to be called the law
until you have seen it come to fulfillment through Jesus' exegesis of
it . . .
You have seen in Matthew 5:17 where Jesus identifies himself as the
"fulfillment of the law"; this being the set-up for what he says in
the next verse . . .
"For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
As all the law is come to fulfillment in the son of Man, now many a
jot and iota of the law is seen to pass away--with every leper Jesus
heals on the Sabbath day, with every handful of barley gleaned by his
disciples in the corners of the fields on the Sabbath day as Jesus
leads them through the (barley) corn to this purpose.
It p***** away from the moment you hear Jesus say, "Ye have heard that
it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever
shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you,
That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in
danger of the judgment."
Are you kidding? Jesus here has come as the fulfillment of even the
Law of Commandments to say that you have not understood God's meaning
for the word "kill" (or murder)--and so it is not that Jesus is
changing the law. Rather! he is gleaning it from the husk that
obscures the pure kernal of it; He comes with his scythe and his
harrow to pass through the whole field of jots and tittles and iotas
of legalistic briars and weedy undergrowth sown in profligacy by
scribes and priests who by expanding it, got it wrong: When you speak
with angry words against your brother, it is with an intent and
purpose in your heart that is indistinguishable to God's sight from
murder. Nothing in law is changed, only your understanding, and in
this the law is fulfilled.
In conclusion, when the son of Man says, "For verily I say unto you,
Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise
pass from the law, till all be fulfilled," his meaning is once again
clear and unambiguous--but only in view of the former statements, as
this is understood as the conclusion to a logical chain of
premises . . .
1. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law
2. In order for the law to be fulfilled, it must be freed of every
weedy jot and thistle of tittle from priestly, scribal corruption; it
must be gleaned from the chaff of man's poor understanding, to be
revealed for what it really is.
3. Conclusion: The law having been fulfilled in Jesus; this law being
gleaned from all that was never the law, but was called the law,
recorded as such in the scripture by erring priests and scribes; that
law being over and done with, by its absence reveals the true law,
God's law, given at first to Moses, then lost to sight under centuries
of pietistic sediment and dust of pompous liturgy but uncovered again
at last by the Messiah--the fulflled law from which no jot or iota
will be taken "till heaven and earth pass" under a Last Judgement; a
final fulfillment, a last law, after which there is none, nor anyone
to judge by the law, not even the angels.
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither
marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in
heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read
that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of
Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the
God of the dead, but of the living. And when the multitude heard this,
they were astonished at his doctrine." Matthew 22: 29-33
