I am a lifelong Batfan.  but does he qualify as the Ultimate Hero?
Especially the current version which downplays the Detective aspect.
He is more a Crazy Eddie Crimefighter than an inspiring hero.
Yes he is a self made man and well motivated and being super rich
makes a big
difference.  But his method of prowling the streets and beating up bad
guys is not
the best way to fight crime.  He is a loner when he should be a
leader.
He is like a guy in a leaky boat bailing water as fast as he can to
stay afloat but
not plugging the leaks first thats letting the water in.
and thinking he has to do it alone and not get the other passengers to
bail with him
