This is that new-fangled construction called 'irony', yes?

How very strange. I've read, Water Logic and Flora Segunda, and I think
The Margarets. I don't really expect to have read more than you on a
modern award nominees list.

Water Logic is the third of Marks' Elemental Logic books, following Fire
Logic and Earth Logic. A quick google shows the only comments you have
made on various Marks books is some version of 'didn't read it'.

Flora Segunda is a very strange first person book, full name "Flora
Segunda: Being the Magickal Mishaps of a Girl of Spirit, Her Glass-Gazing
Sidekick, Two Ominous Butlers (One Blue), a House with Eleven Thousand
Rooms, and a Red Dog". It's an alternate history California (Cierra
Califa), not done entirely seriously. It's Wilce's first, and so far only
novel, but she had short stories set in that world previously published in
F&SF, and other short stories published elsewhere (Asimov's among others).

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
