RISE OF THE BLOOD ROYAL Newcomb, Robert
Final book in the rather dire Destinies of Blood and Stone trilogy.
Gets some points for addressing one issue I had with the set up (that
nobody has free will in this setting) but not enough that I would
recommend
anyone I like read this.
JANGO Nicholson, William
NOMAN Nicholson, William
SEEKER Nicholson, William 5/1/2006
Three related novels about a community of martial artists
who face a number of threats. The books are slight and the eventual
explanation for what was going on made me want to smack the person
responsible so hard their unborn grandchildren would have bruises.
FLEET OF WORLDS Niven, Larry 10/1/2007
Lerner, Edward M.,
The Puppeteers plan to relocate to the Magellanic Clouds
is greatly complicated by a decision made some centuries ago, to
rescue and exploit another species' lost star****p.
This wasn't bad, reminiscent of classic Known Space material
rather than late Known Space. I was a bit surprised how sympathetic
Nessus was (as opposed to being limited to the role of cowardly plot
instigator) but then I realized that Nessus is after all one of Niven's
longest running characters.
EMPIRE OF IVORY Novik, Naomi 10/2/2007
The most recent Temeraire novel, which starts off soon after
Temeraire and his human commit an act of treason against the British
Empire. Events give the pair a chance to redeem themselves but the
net effect of their betrayal cannot be erased and there is no great
reset button.
