For written SF:

Carl Sagan. His mix of science ("Cosmos") and fiction ("Contact") is
for recent decades what Asimov was for the previous generation: A
popularizer of science who writes science fiction to elucidate ideas.

I imagine you also have to include J.K. Rowling ("Harry Potter") and
C.S. Lewis ("Chronicles of Narnia"). Presumably parents buy the books
for their kids, after their kids have seen the movies.

But as others have pointed out, a big change from the heyday of Asimov
and Clarke is the rise of pretty decent television SF. And that's
probably what represents SF to most people these days, rather than
written stories and novels.

For television SF, the names that most come to mind these days are
Roddenberry and Abrams.
