Hm.  The "detailing" is sort of what he's good at, IMO.  So I don't
perceive that as a bug.  But I suppose you're right.  Well, try some
short stories, like "The Trouble Twisters" collection, or maybe try
something like a Falkayn or Flandy adventure.  Maybe The Man Who Counts
(iirc aka "The War of the Wing-Men").  Or one where the detailing is
more... alien and hence maybe interesting, like Fire Time, or one of
the ones with Ythrians or something.  If you still bounce, then maybe
he just doesn't work for you.
