     I've never heard any Protestant say that.  I have heard plenty of 
Protestants say that the Catholic Church ascribes Mary an excessively 
exalted role.  I think this is a genuine theological difference, and 
not just a case of misunderstanding the other's position.

     The drive to proclaim Mary Co-Redemptrix is still going on and 
it seems to have more than just a few sup****ters, as you can easily 
find by googling.  Various cardinals and bishops appear to have 
announced their sup****t for it.  The petition you speak of wound up 
getting several million signatures, as you can see in the New York 
Times article linked below.  If the drive does succeed, it's a safe 
bet what Protestants will think.
