His Nicholas van Rijn and David Falkayn stories are a bit more
straightforward planetary adventures - van Rijn in particular is 
quite a memorable character.  _Trader to the Stars_ (van Rijn) or 
_The Trouble Twisters_  (Falkayn, mostly - I think van Rijn shows 
up in places; van Rijn hired Falkayn) are good places to try.

If you lean toward fantasy, try _Three Hearts and Three Lions_ .

"No Truce With Kings" is harder to describe - post-apocalypse,
military flavored, some psi stuff - but is generally quite
highly regarded.

Anderson wrote in a ton of sub-genres, but combine your list above
with failure on 1-2 of the others mentioned in this thread, and
it would seem likely his stuff isn't for you.
