In literature, whenever someone of humble origins turns into
a noble hero, they're really adopted. The abandoned children
of kings are pretty common.

If you go back further, heroes are the children of gods, heroes
like Hercules, Theseus, Aeneas and Romulus.

Conrad is Hercules, Carrot isn't a demigod but he is
descended from the Romulus of Ankh-Mor****k, and one of
his co-workers is descended from the Brutus.
